The City of Pflugerville, where quality meets life, is growing and improving every day and we are always on the lookout for outstanding individuals to join our team! Currently, we are in search of a Lead Camp Counselor. See the essential duties and responsibilities below. We will be selecting applicants for this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set up and organize activity areas and supplies during staff training.
  • Delegate staff their responsibilities in activity during staff training.
  • Teach and monitor proper use of equipment and/or supplies.
  • Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for safety.
  • Check equipment and make repairs or place orders for supplies on an ongoing basis.
  • Conduct daily check of program area(s) and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
  • Write-up and report accurately incident and injury records on all participants, as needed.
  • Write down and insure proper communication of all planned activities with Assistant Camp Director in a timely fashion.
  • Be accountable for group fieldtrip monies and receipts to be returned promptly to the Assistant Camp Director.
  • Guide groups and individual campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
  • Keep and report all incident and injury records on all participants, as needed.
  • Help campers progress from beginner to increased individual skill levels.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of special events including inter-camp games/activities for camp teams, theme weeks/days and other well-structured programs.
  • Submit orders for equipment and/ or supplies, ensuring timely arrival of materials.
  • Assist in packing all materials and supplies at end of season.
  • Evaluate current season and make suggestions for following season
  • Maintain good public relations with campers' parents.
  • Recognize and respond to opportunities for teaching problem solving abilities for campers in the group.
  • Develop opportunities for interaction between campers and staff.
  • Manage personal time off in accordance with camp policy.
  • Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean-up and chores, sportsmanship, and table manners.
  • Responsible for the appropriate dispensing of parent requested medications to campers and its required paperwork.
  • Other related duties as required or assigned, including minor maintenance activities

Education/Experience/Certification Qualifications:

Formal Education: N/A

Relatable Work Experience: Must be at least 16 years old. Experience planning a broad range of activities including but not limited to sports, games, arts & crafts, music, and field trips.

Training (Licenses(s) and/or Certification(s): Adult and Child CPR (must be able to obtain before the start of camp); Standard First Aid (must be able to obtain before the start of camp); American Red Cross Basic Water Rescue Course

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in daily operations of summer day camps, after-school camps or related activities.
